TEHRAN Hojjatoleslam Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, is to pay an official visit to the Latin American country of Cuba.

The Hojjatoleslam, currently in Madrid, Spain for a two-day visit, will leave for Cuba today.

Hojjatoleslam Khomeini is visiting the country upon the invitation of Cuban Leader Fidel Castro.

Tehran-Havana ties are currently at a very good level. Castro's visit to Iran in May improved relations between the two independent countries.

By such a visit, it seems that it is time for appearance of another Khomeini to follow the path of late Iranian leader.

Castro and Imam Khomeini are considered to be the main supporters of freedom and independence and main opponents of U.S. hegemony in the 20th century.

During his visit to Iran, Castro visited Imam Khomeini's house and mausoleum and praised the late Imam's ideals and beliefs as well as his simple life.

Castro called the late Imam "a unique powerful leader" who should be modeled by the countries and nations who don't want to be under domination of other powers.

"It is overwhelming to have a leader with such a simple life and such a power to stand against world dominant powers," Castro told Hassan Khomeini while visiting Islamic Republic recently.
